SPUD HOCKEY COACHES

Dave Morinville Head Coach Dave Morinville leads the Spuds’ bench for the 14th consecutive season. He is assisted by Erick Grafstrom and Josh Arnold. Morinville began his coaching career as an assistant Spuds coach in the mid-1970’s. He went on to coach at Fargo North High School and the NDSU club hockey team. He was an assistant coach at St. Cloud State University from 1988-1990. He scouted for The Ottawa Senators from 1990-1992, and served as an assistant coach with the Minnesota Moose for a year. He holds a master’s coaching certificate with USA hockey, a BA from Concordia College and a Masters degree from NDSU. He is married to Mary and has three children, Sara, Jessie, and Megan |

Erick Grafstrom Attending school in Roseau, Erick played hockey for the 1980 season before joining the Des Moines Buccaneers for the 1981 season. He then played for the U of M Crookston hockey team for two seasons and transferred to Concordia for a year. He then went on to finish with NDSU's Club team and graduate in 1986 with a degree in Agronomy. Erick played a season in the ECHL with the Mohawk Valley Comets and returned to play with the Warroad Lakers. He began coaching at NDSU with the Club team from 1987-1995. He then coached at Fargo North High School from 1995-1996 and at Moorhead High School from 2000-2005. Erick is married to Lisa and they have a daughter Ella (8) and . |

Josh Arnold Josh is a former Spud playing on the hockey team all four years at Moorhead (90-94) and helping the team to three straight State Hockey Tournament appearances. The team finished 2nd twice in 92 & 94 and third in 93. He then went on to play at UMD for 2 seasons and at Concordia College for 2 seasons before graduating in 1998 with a degree in Business Administration. Josh returned to assist with coaching at Concordia in 1999 and has assisted with the Spuds Varsity team for the past three years. He is married to Margo and has two sons, Jack (6) and George (3). |
