Fargo South Gets the Best Of Spuds 4-2

Both teams were looking for a win to rebound after some up and down play recently. South found a way to get that win and Moorhead's struggles continued. The Spuds outshot and controlled the play in the South end of the ice at times but couldn't find a way to get the puck in the net. Scott Buchholz was solid in net for Fargo as he stopped 35 of 37 shots on net. The Bruins capitalized after a long shift in their own end as they made a rush and scored making it 1-0 South on a goal by Cooper Stellrecht at 6:01 in the second period. They added another goal from Tyler Sorenson making it 2-0. Moorhead battled getting a goal from Quin Buckellew at 12:35 in the 2nd period. Another Bruins tally at 14:15 by Peter Orson made it 3-1 after two periods. The Spuds got the game within 1 goal in the third period as Brandon MacLeod scored to make it 3-2 at with 7:06 to go. South added a empty net tally right at the end of the game on a neutral zone face off that rolled all the way into the Spud net. The Spuds fall to 4-4-2 and will next play Thief River Falls Thursday at 7:30pm at the Moorhead Sports Center.

Annual Christmas Game Between Spud Varsity & Alumni Set For Saturday, December 26 - 3PM
Wednesday, 25 November 2009 - From Terry Shercliffe

The annual Christmas Alumni game date has been set. We have both the North and South rink reserved at the Sports Center for SATURDAY DEC. 26 - 3:00 - 5:00.
If you are in Moorhead for Christmas please try to attend and come and skate. That is why we get both rinks. Last year we shuffled 30 some alumni in and out of the game. It will be a good time and we would love to have more Ex Spuds take part.
If you are planning to skate please drop me an e-mail at twsherky@cableone.net
I can only quess there will be a meeting somewhere after to swap Christmas yarns. More info to follow.
